Interrogating Fashion
Activities | Aims

Aims

The aims of the INTERROGATING FASHION research cluster:

  • To develop innovative research in fashion design and presentation which interrogates the processes of fashion from concept and design development to new manufacturing techniques, utilising craft practices in tandem with new and emerging technologies to develop new methodologies and products.

  • To debate the inherent paradox and ethical issues in the design and consumption of fashion and develop appropriate design responses in research proposals.

  • To examine the potential of materials, processes and technology transfer to inspire new creative applications of digital technologies for fashion products, in collaboration with computer scientists, material scientists and manufacturers.

  • To explore the relationship of the individual with fashion, clothing and display through an experimental presentation/event developed through interdisciplinary collaboration and workshop sessions, leading to further proposals for fashion-related exhibitions and events.
